A CLOSER LOOK AT BRUCE LEE

Here's the outside of the Bruce Lee Icon Hot Toys box. It features a nice likeness of Bruce along with a description of Bruce and his accomplishments to the bottom left of the box. The right upper corner has a metal tag with Hot Toys logo on it. It's really nice. I'll recommend keeping the box for later storage and increased value of the figure.

The outer box opens to reveal a slip cover with another picture of Bruce, this time a full body pic of the figure sitting in the directors chair. The figure is definitely packaged well for the protection of the figure and shows the collector how much care Hot Toys puts into their figures.

Bruce is covered by black foam packing, the same as surrounds him. You can see his sunglasses in this picture.

Out of the box Bruce is amazing. He's wearing a three piece suit with shirt and tie. He has a gold tone watch on his left arm that comes already attached, a leather like belt and brown heeled shoes.

The suit and shoes seem to be from the seventies. Bruce comes with three pairs of hands, a directors chair, a pair of sunglasses and a figure stand with Bruce Lee signature.

I know I just got my Bruce Lee figure but, I have to say, he is my all time favorite figure that I own. I've wanted Bruce for a long time. I was trying to figure out how to make a custom figure of Bruce without costing too terribly much. For the quality of the figure and clothing and most important, likeness of this figure I'd have to say, it was a steal for $99.

Thank you Hot Toys for making a Bruce Lee figure that I could afford. Enterbay has some awesome Bruce Lee figures but, they run $300 - $450. Hot Toys produced this figure and another called Hot Toys Bruce Lee Casual Wear. Both originally cost around $155.

A lot of Bruce Lee fans wouldn't want casual Bruce but, I think this figure is great! It shows a different side of the man. Bruce was not only a fighter but, he was an actor, director and philosopher.

For my first high end collectors figure from Hot Toys...I give this Bruce Lee in suit, a thumbs up.

Just wanted to give you a look at my new favorite action figure.

BRUCE LEE!

I finally got a Bruce Lee figure! I have wanted a Bruce Lee figure forever! I finally got him, and on sale of course. I'll have to post a review on him later. I am blown away right now.

A peek at my desk. I was cleaning an organizing this morning trying to get the creative juices flowing. I don't know about you but, I can't do anything with a cluttered work area. My little glass top desk is where I do my writing, sketching and customs on my figures. Now that it's all done, I have no excuses.

My environment means everything when I'm working, writing or creating. How about you? Some people live for the clutter. I just can't.

Now if I could just pass that on to my daughters.

1/6 SCALE D/C

Take a look at this upcoming Superman from Sideshow Collectibles D/C 1/6 scale figures. Love this head sculpt!  D/C has truly stepped up their game. These figures which include, Superman, Batman and Catwoman are based on the cartoon version of the characters.

I'm also loving the muscular action figure body on this one. the costume is classic Superman too.

Batman looks great in his classic costume as well. Hoping the finished products look this good.

Wow! I am really nerding out over this Catwoman! Her costume looks awesome! Face sculpt is perfect! This is what I envision Catwoman looking like, not Anne Hathaway's version.

I want to get all three of these figures but, if I can only get two, it'll be Superman and Catwoman. If it's only one...it'll be CATWOMAN.  I'm loving her new 52 comic.

I read that they are also playing on releasing 1/6 scale Arkham Asylum figures! Seriously!

HOT TOYS CASUAL SUIT FIGURE

Okay, I finally did it. I broke down and ordered a Hot Toys figure that isn't a basic Hot Toys True Type. As I was lying in my bed today feeling sickly, I came across this Bruce Lee figure at Sideshow Collectibles for $99.

$99 is more than I have ever paid for a figure! But, at $99, no tax, and no shipping costs, this was still an awesome bargain. I have been trying to figure out for years how I was going to get one of my absolute favorite icons added to my collection without breaking the bank. Enterbay has a new Bruce Lee figure for around $300. I definitely can not afford that!

This figure comes in a brown three piece 70's style suit with dress shoes and sunglasses. He also has a director's  chair and 2 sets of hands. He has a smiling face sculpt which is why a lot of collectors don't like this particular figure and he's not from any movie. It would be easy to order a game of death jumpsuit for him. Just saying.

He has the well articulated body that we are use to from Hot Toys...as you can see.

I'm so excited and can't wait for my first Bruce Lee figure to get here! I'm already playing to get a lighted display case to put him in.

NEW TRUE TYPE BODIES...KIND OF?

Looks like Hot Toys will be releasing the True Type figure bodies without the head sculpt. I've been hoping to see more true type figures but, I thought they would come with head sculpts. No head sculpt is fine with me so long as, they take the price down. I could use this muscular figure for a custom figure I've been thinking of doing. This one is would work for the T-800 series.

Depending on the price, I'm planning on picking up a couple of these and then buying heads for custom figures I've been wanting to do.

So far they are only showing the Caucasian male releases. Hopefully they will release the AA, Asian and females. I've got a female head sculpt that needs a body and I would like to do some other customs with the AA.

I am soooooooo happy Hot Toys didn't leave us high and dry, without any figure bodies!!!

That's all!

NEW UFC FIGURES - WAVE 2

Well, it took 2 months but wave 2 of the UFC figures finally hit my local Kmart and I'm pretty sure Santa has already grabbed Junior Dos Santos for me. He knows how much I like him plus, he's an awesome fighter.

And there's no way Santa could get Junior without getting Alistair Overeem, I mean these two are destined to fight each other right? Alistair's face sculpt is dead on!

Also in this series is Lyoto Machida, Anderson Silva and Cain Velasquez. I already have 2 Lyoto's and an Anderson Silva so I won't be upset if I miss out on them but, I would like to add Cain Velasquez to my collection.

JOHN CENA!!!

Okay, I don't look at wrestling. I don't even like wrestling but, I do like John Cena!!! I've been wanting  a John Cena action figure forever. I don't like the cheaper versions with less articulation but, I didn't want to pay, $18 for a figure.

Well, today they put this new John Cena Elite series 17 figure on sale for $15 and I broke down and brought him. I also want the Rock Dwayne Johnson.

From what I can tell of the reviews on this figure, I've got the best John Cena figure to date.

What could make me even more happy? If they came out with a 12 inch really articulated version of this figure!

I also picked up Junior Dos Santos and Allistar Overeem but, they are wrapped under the Christmas tree:)

FIGURES I'M LOOKING TO GET

This is the head sculpt of a female action figure that TRIAD TOYS is working on. I love it! Look at those eyes. And you know I love her short hair. I think I'm going to have to take a chance on TRIAD'S quality control on this one.

If you've gone to their website, you'll see that you can no longer buy their products from them. This is suppose to be a new concentrated effort on their part to improve their product/quality control.

Hope I'm not disappointed with this one. I plan on preordering it.

I'm planning on ordering this body for one of my head sculpts and doing a custom figure since Hot Toys has gone up so much with their TrueType bodies.

Hope I haven't missed out on this one. This is the heroic figure body by Kaustic Plastik.

You can buy this one, with or without a head sculpt. And it comes in AA and Caucasian.

Pretty sure I've already missed this one by Hit Figure:(

Another pic of Hit Figure.

I also like the Kaustic Plastik regular muscular body.

I'm looking at all my alternatives as prices continue to rise with Hot Toys. All of these figure bodies run from $30 - $40. Hot Toys is $40 - $50. Still an action figure collector on a budget.

PORTMAN FACE SCULPT

I switched my Natalie Portman TRIAD TOYS body temporary. I'd like to order her a new body. The one she came with The plastic was doll like hard thin plastic that kept falling off.

Her new body, is a TRIAD TOYS also but earlier version. The hands were broken by family members. I super glued them back on.

If anyone has any info on HOT TOYS plans for making any more TRUETYPE action figures, please let me know.

Thanks,
Melissa

ACTION FIGURE ACTION

I guess my PTE guy got bored. I walked into my room and found this going on top of my desk! I don't know what happened or why they were not happy with each other.

Looks like the PTE police action figure got the best of my Triad guy.

Looks like my little guy has mad martial art skills!

I'd be really upsett with him, if he weren't so darn cute!

Well, I've got to run now, they are still going at it! Need to separate them before one of them gets serverely hurt.

BIG LOTS IS MY ONE SIXTH SCALE GOLDMINE

I absoultely love Big Lots this time of year! The selves are stocked with 1/6 scale PTE figures. So far this year, I've found three face sculpts that I didn't have before. Today was no exception.

I found a realy cool detailed PTE with a realistic face sculpt. I have some cartoonish looking PTE figures but, my favorite are the ones that look like they could actually come alive.

MY TOP 5 WOMEN IN COMICS

I was over at the Bronze Tiger and he posed a question. Who are your top five women in comics? At first, I really had to think. I couldn't come up with five favorite women in comics. The first three was easy.

WONDER WOMAN  was definitely in my top five. This amazon kicks much ass! Not many can match her. That's why I was glad they did not do the WONDER WOMAN series they had started filming. You have to give this icon/legend the platinum treatment. She's one of the big three at DC. That's why I don't understand why they haven't given her the sliver screen treatment like Batman and Superman. But, if their not going to do it right, I'd rather they not do it at all.

STORM from the X-Men! Love this woman! She's ultra classy beautiful and can kick your butt! Halle Berry did a pretty good job playing Storm on in the X-Men movies. I prefer her look in the later movies here.

I've always liked CATWOMAN. I know, I know but, she's so good at being bad.

I have to say, after just coming back to reading comics...this next picture really, really surprised me but, I shouldn't have been. CATWOMAN has always been one to play up her sex appeal.

This next woman of Marvel I almost forgot because she's relatively new. I can't believe she wasn't one of the first to pop into my mind. Her character was created by one of my favorite authors, Laurell K. Hamilton. ANITA BLAKE - Vampire Hunter!

Anita is so kick butt I had to add another picture.

Last but certainly not least is my number one favorite female comic book character...none other than BATWOMAN from the New 52! Why is she my favorite? Because she lives her life and makes no excuses. She's not afraid to be who and what she is. She is such a deep multifaceted character. This last #0 issue has made me love her even more. And...she's a bad ass!

There you have it. My favorite female comic book characters.

1/6 Scale Power Team Elite World Peacekeepers are out already! My favorite affordable little plastic men are coming out early this year. I normally don't see these until Nov. I'm excited because, they have some new or new to me face sculpts! I picked this guy up this week.

They have scaled back the size of the box and are selling them for $10 with fewer accessories but, it's still an awesome bargain getting a 12 inch figure for only $10.

The pic above is the Navy Seal Tunnel Hunter. This one is actually an older sculpt that I had missed out on because he came out before I started collecting. What's so cool about this figure is it's based on an action figure collector. Most of the Power Team Elite are based real soldiers in our military. One figure is based on the founder of MC Toys, the company that produces these figures.

Here's another pic of the figure.

This freckle faced young kid is a new face sculpt according to the 1/6 Power Team Elite collecting group I belong too. I'm not so sure. I'll have to research this one. He has  a rather cartoon looking face and the most recent Power Team Elite sculpts are extremely realistic. I normally don't like the cartoon looking figures but, I really like this guy. He's rather cute.

Here he is facing off with Lex. Still planning on picking up General Zod next week. That will complete my set.

I'm planning a trip to a Big Lots a few miles out of town this week to see what they have.
