TRIAD OMEGA FIGURE

Okay, this is a Triad Toys figure that I actually like. There are only a couple of things that I would correct if I could. The first being the head Sculpt is so dark. It's much darker than the body for the figure. The figure goes for $22 at the Triad site.

I brought the Hispanic figure as well as the African American.

The figure is super articulated and capable of almost any pose. The feet are alittle on the small side and quite ugly but, they are covered up with shoes or boots.

The Omega comes packaged similar to the Hot Toys Truetype. I've noticed a lot of companies are packaging their figures like Hot Toys but, I have yet to come across a company that can meet the quality of Hot Toys figure bodies or head sculpts. Unlike Hot Toys, the Triad Omega does not come completely naked. He comes with a pair of black boxers.

Triad produced three figures in this line, the two that I purchased and the caucasian pictured above. Triad has quite a few licences, I don't think that they will be producing too many more figure bodies. If the quality of their new figures aren't any better than the EVA figure, that's fine with me. Overall, these are pretty good figures. They aren't on my top ten list but, they helped to add a little variety to my collection.

POWER TEAM ELITE GREEN BERET AA

Okay, I'm a one sixth action figure collector on a budget. Part of the fun of collecting for me is finding really good quality action figures for little of nothing. The figure above was produced by MC Toys out of Hong Kong. This figure is from the  Power Team Elite Peacekeepers line.

The figure boast 30 points of articulation in the 3rd generation figure. Even though MC Toys has gotten out of the one sixth toy line, you can still pick these figures up for $10 at Big Lots, Family Dollar and Dollar General.  Because they are so cheap I can have double figures for most of these guys. I keep one for display and one unopened in the box. My friends and family have been helping me collect so, I have three of some figures because they don't know which ones I have already.

These figures are great for kit-bashing. And they are cheap. But, cheap price doesn't mean cheaply made. The hinges are sturdy and the figures hold their poses and are able to stand on their own. I have not attempted to kit-bash this figure. I think he looks fine in his jeans, black tee, tactile vest, sneakers, cap, binoculars, rifle, sunglasses and watch. Pretty sweet for ten dollars, huh?

The only complaint, if I had one would be that the AA figures look more doll-like where as the other figures look more realistic. But hey, they only cost ten bucks so, I'm not going to complain.

Here's a shot with a couple Power Team Elite Peace Keeper figures. There is a Hispanic Green Beret, A Ranger in the back on the right and CIA SOG with the sunglasses on the left. The SOG and Green Beret AA have the same face sculpt. As you can see, for $10 these are pretty pimped out figures. I am sad that MC Toys isn't making this line any more. These figures really helped to add variety to my collection without breaking the bank.

HOT TOYS 1/6 SCALE TRUETYPE CUBAN FEMALE FIGURE

I thought I should blog about a figure that I really liked since my last review was less than glowing. I scored this figure last year from Big Bad Toy Store. Where as the male version boast 38 points of articulation, this figure has 28. But, twenty-eight is more than enough.

Hot Toys has introduced a high quality affordable one sixth female figure to their lineup. The first of what I hope will be a continuing line much like the Truetype male line features a Cuban and Caucasian female figure. The torso is covered with skin like rubber body suit making the figure's appearance more aesthetic. The skin color is consistent through out the figure. The head sculpt matches the body perfectly in both figures.

The face sculpt is realistic and attractive but, if I had one complaint, it would be that her expression looks a bit hard. Other than that, she is pretty much perfect. If you look closely, you can tell Hot Toys used the same face sculpt for both figures.
You can really see the stern/hard look to her face in this pic. I did want to mention that the joints on this figure holds it's poses and are well made, unlike the Eva by Triad Toys.

The figure is basic. It comes with a set of relaxed hands, pistol grip hands and an extra pair of feet to fit high heel shoes. It also has the basic black figure stand. The female figures are packaged like the Truetype males in the clear clam shell like package.

I am definitely looking forward to increasing my female one sixth action figures with this line from Hot Toys. I can't wait to see what they come out with next in this line. Whereas the Eva by Triad Toys was one of the worst figures I've ever purchased, the Hot Toys Female figure is one of the best.

TRIAD EVA (EVALUTION) FEMALE FIGURE

I ordered this figure directly from Triad. I love the head sculpt. Here's a close-up of her head.

Listen closely because this will be the only nice thing I have to say about the Eva figure. I absolutely love the head sculpt. I have over one hundred figures and I don't have many female action figures. I didn't have any with short hair like this one. The paint application and the face is detailed and well done. The figure has a realistic face sculpt that bears a strong resemblance to Natalie Portman. Okay, that's it for the good side of the review.

The Eva comes packaged similar to the Hot Toys female Truetype. She comes with three breast sizes which are all almost the same size. There are one pair of pistol grip hands and one set of relaxed hands which are not really relaxed. They more look like they are tensed ready to do something, what I don't know.

The prototype looks excellent in the advertisements but the actual figure that is shipping is shiny, and the material used to make the figure is cheap. The plastic is extremely thin and fragile, not what you would expect for an action figure. The legs look like they are made out of the type of plastic that you would get from Michael's when you are making a doll. I was extremely disappointed.

I found the picture above on a forum that was trying to address the floppy hip/leg problem. The legs, arms, hands, breast plate, head and feet were designed to come off  and be interchangeable with other Triad figures. But, the legs just fall off without trying to remove them. I was unable to dress the figure without the legs falling off and the joint connections are so loose that she can't hold a pose or stand for very long without falling. I can definitely say that the Triad EVA figure is one of the worst figures I have ever purchased. The only good thing I can say is I got it on sale for $27.

Here is a picture of the prototypes. The prototypes look really good. It's a shame the final product didn't turn out anything like this.I've gone back to the site and see that it is now back up to it's regular $40 price tag. I wouldn't recommend this figure for any action figure collector unless you're willing to pay $40 for a head Sculpt.
Here's a picture of the male figure in the same line that I was going to purchase before I ordered the female and discovered it's poor quality.

I was really looking forward to purchasing this figure from Triad Toys but, after my experience with the EVA figure, I don't trust Triad to put out a quality action figure. I think I'll just stick to the companies with a proven record for consistently turning out quality products.

Hot Toys True Type Asian Figure

This is my Hot Toys True Type Asian figure that I got from Big Bad Toy Store. At the time it cost a total of $38 with shipping and handling but, like everything else, prices for Hot Toys have gone up.  I paid $53 for my True Type African American Advanced version. (That has a striking resemblance to President Obama) Even so, Hot Toys True type are some of the best action figures available. I have purposely purchased different action figure bodies and Hot Toys have always come out on top. Let's take a look at the Hot Toys Figure.

Let's start at the top. One of the things I like about Hot Toys figures is the realistic head sculpts. The paint applicaton mimics flesh tone as close as you can come. The eyes even have a glassy appearance. The guys at Hot Toys aren't just toy makers, they're artist. And to say that they can mass produce qualitity figures like this incredible. I haven't seen any company save Enterbay that can produce a likeness with such realistic results.

The picture on the right proves that not all companies are created equal. I almost ordered this figure trying to increase my female action figures. Glad I saw this picture before I ordered.

This is how the figure comes packaged. He came with a pair of relaxed hands, pistol grip hands and an extra neck brace. Yes, True Type comes NAKED. They have 38 points of articulation with make them great for placing them into different poses.

Here are some pics of the figure.

I also have as mentioned before the African American Advance version, African American Slim version and the Hot Toys Female True Type Cuban figure. I will be reviewing them soon. Here are a couple of pictures of each. The female true type I'm excited about because this year is the first time that Hot Toys has added female figures to their True Type line up.
