SPIDERMAN

I admit it. I'm a major Marvel fan. My collection of one sixth figures contain quite a few Marvel characters. One of my all time favorite characters is SPIDERMAN! I have eight 12inch figures and two 18inch figures of Spiderman. The figure I am reviewing today is Marvel Legends Spiderman Icon figure.

Another pic from of Spiderman from my collection. That's Roto Symbiote Spiderman peaking over Peter's shoulders. I was shopping on Ebay and saw where someone was trying to pass off this figure for a Marvel Legends Icon. They had removed the original figure and replaced it with the cheaper figure. Be careful people! Make sure you know what you are paying for. I got the Roto figure from Kmart for ten dollars. They were trying to sell it for $50!

I love this line by Marvel but, they stop producing this line. Luckily I got all of the Icons I wanted. (except masked Captain American)

I love my Spiderman figures, all of them but, the one complaint I have is that the ankles are weak and the feet are too small. Neither one of my Spiderman figures can stand for very long without taking a nose dive to the carpet below from their prospective displays. So, I have to pose them in kneeling or crawling positions. Masked Spiderman fell and snapped his arm off. I was able to repair him and he doesn't look any worse for wear. The original price for these figures was around $15. Not bad for a 12inch figure that boast over 30 points of articulation. I just googled this figure and it's going for as much as $124. I'd pay $15 or $20 for this figure but, not much more than that. The most I have paid for one of these figures was $36. And that was my limit. I not only like action figure collecting but, as I have said before, I am also a bargain hunter.

SHOULD I? OR SHOULDN'T I?

Okay. Here is a figure I've been dying for some 1/6 company to produce but, it's Triad Toys. I have had some good experiences and bad experiences with Triad. I brought these two figures from them and for the price, they were worth it.

I brought this figure (EVA) and it was a complete waste of money even, on sale! See my earlier post regarding it's poor quality.

Okay, here's my dilemma. I don't have any AA female action figures and Triad has this up for pre-order.

Well, there it is. Should I or shouldn't I? This pre-order isn't coming in till the third quarter of 2011 so I have time. If Triad stays true to form, this figure won't be available until next year sometime. Let me know what you think.

HOT TOYS TRUETYPE NARROWED SHOULDERS

Yay! Hot Toys is coming out with another Truetype figure. Hot Toys Truetype is my absolute favorite. Because you know actually what your going to get when you put your money down for this product. You'll get a quality figure with 38 points of articulation and a celebrity face sculpt too.

This new body type comes with Prison Breaks Michael Schofield likeness. I'll admit, Hot Toys has done this face sculpt a couple of time but, I'm one of the few Hot Toy collectors that has not purchased this particular likeness so, it's all good for me.  Here's a pic of the figure. This is the only pic Hot Toys has released. I'm hopeful that they will release another pic with another face sculpt, like maybe an AA or Asian version. My collection is packed full of Caucasians. No offense intended but, I'd like to diversify.

OBAMA IN THE BUFF???

Actually it's hot toys true type advanced African American advanced version. That's what they are calling it but, you've got to admit, our little friend bears a striking resemblance to our nations president. You too can own a piece of history for around $45. I picked up one as a Christmas present for myself.

They even captured his trademark frown. I love my Obama like action figure. I've got to find a suit that fits him now. My figure is sporting a pair of corduroys and a sweater right now. Not very presidential, I know.

Here's a pic of Obama holding a mini-me of himself. These mimi-Obamas were given to special Hot Toys collectors:( Not the general public. Wish I could have scored one of these!

Here is the DID head sculpt version. I'd say Hot Toys definitely knocked the sculpt out of the box! DID is okay but Hot Toys nailed it. Check out the Hot Toys face sculpt.

I will say, I thought it was pretty funny that they made the Obama figure extremely muscular. I mean, the real Obama is a bit slimmer.

Asian Figure

Just playing around with my action figures and trying to use Crazy Talk to make a movie clip. I'm not sure what this figure is. I ordered him directly from Hong Kong. I got him for $5! I am always looking to add diversity to my collection and I think it's kind of cool having figures that no one else has. Like I said before, I'm an action figure collector on a budget.

The clothes he's wearing came from several $5 figures I picked up on clearance. The necklace I made with a charm from Walmart. Pretty cool figure for just $5. The same type figure now runs about $17, which still isn't bad. The articulation is around 30 pts. There were two figures marked X-Boy for sale when I picked him up. There was a Caucasian figure and this Asian figure. The Caucasian figure was always marked at a higher price, which suits me fine since I have more than enough Cacasian figures. I'm trying to diversify. 

POWER TEAM ELITE PEACEKEEPERS

As a one-sixth collector on a budget, I have to be on the look-out for quality figures at a reasonable price. I have not found a better figure for the price than Power team Elite. I probably have a lot of these figures. If you can find them, you can get the basic figure for five dollars!

The figure above came decked out in military fatigues. I kit bashed him with some of Ken's clothes from the local Walmart. The new Ken clothes are cut a little larger which works perfect with the more muscular action figure bodies and they cost about five dollars.

Here is a couple of pictures of the figure wearing his original outfit. Oh, and my former cat. Don't worry, he's doing just fine with a wonderful family just down the road.

I am the most frugal collectors I know. I'll post my tips on where to find  the best bargains next post.
